The long-awaited beta demo will be coming soon! The major changes were enough to justify releasing the beta now to give everyone a clear idea of the final tone and look of the game. This will be a more accurate final version of Chapter 1. 

We still have some major updates in flight that we're excited about, but we won't spoil any surprises!

Major Changes:

• All new sprites
  • Featuring new versions of the sprites that will be in the game release. Additional expressions, poses, and outfits are still being worked on.
• Dialogue
  • Character dialogue has been edited to enhance the overall game's story-telling. 
    • As we continued writing the rest of the game, we grew to understand each character's personality more in-depth and had to go back to reflect these changes in Chapter 1 (demo).
  • Setting is now neutral
    • As the overall tone of the story came to focus, we decided that it made the most sense to adjust the setting in which Foul Play takes place. Originally, it was specifically set in Tokyo, Japan. There were a few references to this such as currency, employment at the Public Security Intelligence Agency, and landmarks. For the story to be as authentic as possible, with the tone and themes being very westernized, the setting is now neutral and does not mention a specific country/city (the use of ¥ has been replaced with $).

Minor Changes:

• Improved background art
  • Tweaked original images
• Character affection tracking available at any time
• Camera animations
